  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. powdered sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. shortening, melted
  • 1/4 c. plus 1 Tbsp. sifted plain flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. chopped dates
  • 3/4 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

    Beat eggs until light.

    Add sugar and shortening.

    Sift flour, salt and baking powder together and add.

    Add dates, nuts and vanilla.

    Blend together well; pour into greased shallow cake pan. Bake for 25 minutes at 325°.

    Cut into bars; roll in powdered sugar.
