- 1 (8 ounce) package pitted dates, coarsely chopped
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 12 teaspoon baking powder
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 14 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 14 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1 egg, beaten
- 23 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
- 12 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 12 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2Grease a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan.

3In a small bowl, combine the dates and boiling water; let cool to room temperature.

4In another bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and allspice.
