- 1 3/4 c. chopped pitted dates
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 1/4 c. boiling water
- 2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. honey
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 c. coarsely chopped walnuts or mixed nuts
Directions

1Grease a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.

2Preheat oven to 350°.

3Combine first 5 ingredients.

4Add boiling water; let it cool.

5Add egg to date mixture.

6Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; mix into date mixture.

7Stir in nuts and vanilla.

8Spoon into pan. Bake 1 1/2 hours.
