Ingredients

  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. mace
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 6 Tbsp. butter or oleo
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. chopped dates
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts
  • 2 tsp. grated orange rind
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Directions

    Sift flour with baking powder, cinnamon, mace and salt.

    Cream butter until soft; gradually add sugar.

    Add well beaten eggs. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk.

    Fold in dates, nuts and orange rind.

    Pour into a 9-inch greased loaf pan.

    Bake in preheated oven at 325° for 1 hour to 1 1/4 hours.

    Cool in pan 5 minutes.

    Remove and cool completely before slicing.
