  • 2 c. dates, cut lengthwise
  • 3 c. boiling water
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 5 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 c. chopped nuts

Directions

    Put dates, water and butter in a bowl.

    In second bowl, put eggs, sugar and vanilla.

    Place dry ingredients in third bowl.

    Add egg mixture to date mixture, then add flour mixture.

    Last add chopped nuts.

    Put batter into 4 loaf pans.

    Bake at 325° for 45 to 55 minutes.
