  • 3 c. boiling water
  • 3 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. chopped dates
  • 1/2 c. nuts
  • 2 1/4 c. flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • whipped cream

Directions

    Put brown sugar in a 9 x 13 x 2-inch pan.

    Pour boiling water over it; stir to dissolve.

    Mix next 7 ingredients and sprinkle over liquid in pan.

    Leave crumbly on top.

    Bake at 375° for 40 minutes.

    Serve topped with dollop of whipped cream.
