- 3/4 cup boiling water
- 1 cup chopped dates
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
Directions

1pour boiling water over dates and butter, let it stand until cool.

2preheat oven to 325.

3mix the dry ingredients together, add the date mixture, egg, cheese and walnuts, mix until blended, by hand scrape into a greased loaf pan, let it sit 20 minutes.

4bake 50-60 minutes until a toothpick inserted to center comes out dry.

5turn out to rack to cool serve with butter.
