- 2 c. sugar
- 1 c. milk
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 c. chopped dates
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. finely chopped nuts
- 1 1/2 c. coarsely chopped nuts
Directions

1Combine sugar, milk and butter in heavy 2-quart saucepan. Blend thoroughly.

2Place over low heat; stir until sugar is dissolved and mixture is boiling moderately.

3Cover, cook 3 minutes.

4Remove cover.

5Use silver knife blade wrapped in damp cloth to remove any crystals that form on side of pan.

6Stir occasionally.

7Cook to soft ball stage (234°).

8Add dates; mix well.

9Again, cook to soft ball stage.

10Remove from heat; add vanilla.

11Cool without stirring to lukewarm (116°).
-
12Beat until very thick.

13Add finely chopped nuts.
