- 1 lb. fresh okra
- 1 c. flour
- 1 c. cracker meal
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt, divided
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1 egg
- 1 c. buttermilk
- vegetable oil
Directions

1Wash and drain okra.

2Cut into 1/2-inch slices.

3Combine flour, cracker meal, salt and pepper in shallow dish.

4Combine egg, buttermilk and 1/2 teaspoon salt in bowl and beat well.

5Add about 1/3 of okra at at time to milk mixture.

6Remove with slotted spoon and place in flour mixture.

7Coat well and drop in heated oil until brown.
