Deviled Crab Cakes

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 sticks butter
  • 2 c. crab meat (mixture of breast and claw meat)
  • 1 1/2 c. Progresso Italian style bread
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 large onions, finely chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. dry mustard
  • basil leaves and red pepper to taste

Directions

    Saute onions in butter until clear.

    Combine remaining ingredients; mix thoroughly and form into patties or stuff into cleaned crab shells.

    Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes until browned.

    May be frozen on a cookie sheet uncooked, then kept frozen in freezer bags until ready to thaw and bake.
