  • 1 c. milk, scalded
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/4 c. lukewarm water
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3 1/2 c. flour

Directions

    Combine milk, shortening, sugar and salt. Cool to lukewarm. Add yeast, softened in water; add egg. Gradually stir in flour to form soft dough. Beat vigorously; cover and let rise until doubled in bulk. Turn out on floured surface and cut with round biscuit cutter. Put in greased pan and turn top 3/4 the way down, then roll and press lightly. Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes or until done.
