Ingredients

  • 3 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 c. Karo syrup (red label)
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Combine Karo syrup, water, salt and sugar; boil to 265° or hard ball stage.

    Beat egg whites until stiff and gradually beat in the boiling syrup mixture.

    Beat until it begins to stiffen, then add vanilla and nuts.

    Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper to cool.
