- 1 c. warm water
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 1/4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp. soft shortening
Directions

1In medium size mixing bowl, combine water and yeast; dissolve. Mix in 1/2 flour, sugar and salt.

2Beat with spoon until smooth. Add egg and shortening.

3Beat in rest of flour until smooth. Scrape down sides of bowl; cover with cloth.

4Let rise about 30 minutes at approximately 85°.

5Grease 12 muffin cups.

6Stir down. Fill cups; let rise until dough reaches top of cups.

7Bake for 15 to 20 minutes at 400°.
