Double Quick Dinner Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 c. warm water
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening

Directions

    Dissolve yeast in water. Add sugar, salt and half of the flour.

    Beat with spoon, then add egg and shortening.

    Beat in rest of the flour.

    Let rise until double, about 30 minutes. Stir down raised dough. Spoon into muffin cups.

    Let rise again 20 to 30 minutes. Bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes.

    Yields 12 rolls.
