- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1 c. very warm water (110~ to 115~)
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 1/4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
Directions

1In mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in water.

2Stir in sugar, half of the flour and salt.

3Beat until smooth.

4Add egg and shortening.

5Beat in rest of flour until smooth.

6Scrape down sides; cover.

7Let rise in warm place about 30 minutes.

8Stir down batter; spoon into 12 greased, large muffin cups, filling half full.

9Let rise in warm place until dough reaches top.

10Heat oven to 400°.

11Bake 15 to 20 minutes.
