  • 23 cup shortening
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 14 teaspoon baking soda
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • 12 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 12-2 cups nuts (or you can have half of each) or 1 12-2 cups dried fruits (or you can have half of each)

    Cream shortening and sugar.

    Add eggs; mix well.

    Sift dry ingredients.

    Add dry ingredients alternately with liquid.

    Fold in fruit and/or nuts.

    Add vanilla.

    Drop by spoonful on a greased baking sheet.

    Cookies will be more uniform if they do not touch while baking.

    Bake at 375F for 10 minutes.
