- 1 c. sifted flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/2 c. milk or water (approximately)
Directions

1Sift flour with baking powder and salt.

2Cut in shortening until mixture is as fine as cornmeal.

3Add liquid and mix very lightly until a soft dough is formed.

4Drop from teaspoon on boiling meat stew.

5Cover very tightly and cook without removing cover 12 minutes.

6Serves 6.

7Keep covered while cooking to prevent sogginess.

8Richer dumplings may be made by using 1 beaten egg and 1/4 cup milk, instead of 1/2 cup milk.
