- 3 apples, halved
- 8 oz. butter
- Salt
- Black pepper; freshly ground
- Streaky bacon rashers
Directions

1Place an apple half and a knob of butter inside each bird.

2Season inside and out with salt and pepper and wrap well in bacon.

3Stand in 1/2-inch of water in a roasting pan and cover with foil.

4Roast in a preheated oven at 300F for 45 minutes.

5Remove the foil and pour the liquid from the pan.

6Unwrap the bacon.

7Increase the oven temperature to 450F and roast for 10 minutes to brown the birds.
