- 1 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 c. flour
- 7 tsp. cocoa
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/3 c. butter, melted
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1 1/2 c. hot water
Directions

1Combine 3/4 cup sugar, flour, 3 tablespoons cocoa, baking powder and salt.

2Blend in milk, melted butter and vanilla.

3Beat until smooth.

4Pour batter into an 8 x 8 x 2-inch or 9 x 9 x 2-inch square pan.

5Combine 1/2 cup sugar, brown sugar and 4 tablespoons cocoa; sprinkle over batter.

6Pour hot water over top (do not stir).

7Bake 40 minutes at 350°.

8Let stand 15 minutes. Spoon sauce from bottom of pan over top.

9Makes 8 to 10 servings.
