  • 2 lb. round or chuck, cubed
  • 2 thickly sliced carrots
  • 4 oz. water chestnuts, sliced
  • 1 c. celery, sliced
  • 6 oz. mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 (16 oz.) jar small white onions, rinsed
  • 1 lb. can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (10 3/4 oz.) beef broth
  • 1 c. Burgundy or red wine
  • 1/2 tsp. basil
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. salt

Directions

    Combine meat and vegetables in a large casserole.

    Mix together seasonings, flour, sugar and salt.

    Pour wine and broth over all.
