- 5 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 6 Tbsp. butter, melted
- 1/2 c. sugar, mixed with 1 tsp. cinnamon
Directions

1Cream the shortening and first 1/2 cup sugar thoroughly.

2Add eggs and mix well. Add other dry ingredients alternately with milk. Fill greased muffin tins half full.

3Bake in a 375° oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Take out of pan immediately. Dip tops in melted butter, then in cinnamon and sugar mixture.

4Makes 12 muffins.
