  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup crisco shortening
  • 1 margarine
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 box confectioner's sugar
  • 1 margarine
  • 6 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa

Directions

    Combine sugar, flour & salt.

    Combine water, Crisco, margarine & cocoa & bring to a boil; pour over sugar mixture & blend well.

    Add eggs, buttermilk, baking soda & vanilla, and when well mixed, pour into a greased & floured 15x10x1-inch baking pan.

    Bake 20 minutes at 350.

    Mix & melt icing ingredients, but do not boil.

    Pour over hot cake.
