Easy Cheesy Ham Chowder

- 10 slices bacon
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 3 cups milk
- 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
- 2 1/2 cups cubed potatoes
- 1 (15 ounce) can whole kernel corn
- 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups cubed cooked ham
- pepper, to taste
Directions

1In a Dutch oven cook bacon over medium heat until crisp.

2Remove to paper towels to drain.

3In the drippings saute onion until tender.

4Stir in flour until blended.

5Gradually add milk and broth-bring to a boil.

6Cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.

7Add the potatoes, corn and pepper.

8Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered for 20 minutes or until potatoes are tender.

9Add cheese and ham; heat until cheese is melted.

10Stir in bacon.

11Normally I don't use the bacon or chicken broth because I make a broth from the ham bone that I am using. And only about a half can of the corn. I also add a cup of diced carrots.
