Easy French Onion Soup

- 1 stick butter
- 5 c. thinly sliced onion
- 6 1/2 c. water
- 5 beef bouillon cubes
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 c. red wine (optional)
- Mozzarella cheese (optional)
- French bread
Directions

1In a Dutch oven, melt butter.

2Add onion and saute until golden brown.

3Add water and bouillon; stir for first 2 minutes. Let come to a rolling boil.

4Reduce heat.

5Add pepper and wine (optional).

6Let simmer for an hour.
