  • 3/4 lb. boneless beef round steak, cubed
  • 1 Tbsp. oil
  • 4 medium unpeeled potatoes, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 5 medium carrots, cut into chunks
  • 1 celery rib, cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 1 large onion, cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 1 can (14 1/2 oz.) chunky stewed tomatoes
  • 3 Tbsp. quick cooking tapioca
  • 1 tsp. browning sauce
  • 1 c. frozen peas
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

    In a Dutch oven, brown the steak in oil.

    Add the next eight ingredients; cover and bake at 300° for 4 to 5 hours, stirring twice.

    Add the peas, salt and pepper during the last 30 minutes of baking.
