- 1 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. plus 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1/2 lb. raisins (approximately 1 1/2 c.)
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 6 c. flour (you may substitute 1 c. wheat germ for 1 c. of the flour if you like)
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- water

2Dissolve baking soda with 1/4 cup of water.

3Pour over oatmeal, raisins, brown sugar and oil.

4Moisten these ingredients with hot water to cover (approximately 2 1/2 cups) and let stand overnight.
