- 2 tsp. butter
- 1 c. milk
- 2 c. sifted flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 4 eggs
- 2 c. sugar
- grated rind of 1/2 lemon
- 3 tsp. lemon juice
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2Grease two 9 inch cake pans. Heat butter with milk until melted.

3Sift flour and baking powder together.

4In a mixing bowl, beat 4 eggs until thick and light. Add sugar gradually and continue beating until smooth and thick. Stir in grated lemon rind and juice.

5Mix in flour gently and gradually.

6Stir in the warm milk; mix.

7Pour batter into pans and bake 30 minutes.

8While cake bakes, make the filling.
