- 3/4 c. butter or margarine
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 3 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate
- 3 c. flour
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 2 1/4 c. sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1 1/2 c. ice water
Directions

1Cream butter, sugar and vanilla.

2Add eggs; beat until light and fluffy.

3Melt and add chocolate.

4Sift together the flour, soda and salt.

5Add to cream mixture alternately with ice water. Pour into cake pans and bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.
