Ingredients

  • 1/4 lb. bacon, diced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 c. tomato juice
  • 2 c. picante sauce
  • 1 (16 oz.) can refried beans
  • 1 (16 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 lime, thinly sliced

Directions

    Cook bacon in large saucepan until crisp.

    Remove to paper towel.

    Drain off all but one tablespoon drippings; slowly cook onion in drippings until tender, not brown.

    Add all other ingredients.

    Bring to boil.

    Simmer 15 to 20 minutes.

    Ladle into soup bowls.

    Garnish with lime slices.
