- 1 c. butter
- 2 c. brown sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking powder
Directions

1Beat well the butter, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla and lemon juice.

2Sift dry ingredients.

3Mix with butter mixture.

4Chill 1 1/2 cups figs or ground dried fruit with 1 cup water.

5Cook 5 minutes.

6Add 3/4 cup sugar and 3 tablespoons flour.

7Cook 3 minutes; chill.

8Take dough and cut in half.

9Roll to 1/4-inch thickness in stripes about half as wide as length; spread filling down center.

10Turn edges over to center.

11Pinch together tight. Place on baking sheet cut side down.

12Bake 15 minutes at 375°. Remove.

13Cut in 2-inch slices.
