Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 2 cups crushed tomatoes
  • 15 ounces beef broth
  • 4 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 12 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 12 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 15 ounces kidney beans or 15 ounces black beans, drained
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne, to taste

Directions

    Heat oil in a large pot.

    Add the onions and cook over medium heat until soft.

    Add garlic and cook for 2 minutes.

    Stir in meat and cook until brown.

    Add crushed tomatoes, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, ceyenne and beans.

    Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low.

    Simmer at least 2 hours.
