  • 2 lb. stew beef, cut up
  • 4 large carrots, sliced
  • 1 large onion, in chunks
  • 4 to 6 celery stalks, in chunks
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. tapioca
  • 3 Tbsp. wine (optional)
  • 1 green pepper, in chunks
  • 2 lb. can tomatoes
  • salt and pepper to taste

    Mix together and place in ovenproof, covered casserole or Dutch oven.
