  • 2 c. plain all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c. plus 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1/3 to 1/4 c. ice water
  • 2 tsp. salt

Directions

    Chill all ingredients thoroughly before use and flour. Cut in shortening; mix well.

    Dissolve salt in ice water; add to flour mixture.

    Mix long enough to wet flour; do not overmix.

    Roll out the pie dough as few strokes as possible.

    The top piece should be slightly thinner than the bottom.

    Bake at 400° to 450° until golden brown.

    Yields 2 (8-inch) pie crusts.
