Ingredients
- flank steak
- 2 large garlic cloves, minced
- 1 onion, sliced thin
- 1/4 c. olive oil
- 3/4 c. dry red wine
- 1/2 c. red wine vinegar
- 1/2 c. beef broth
- 1 bay leaf
- 3 Tbsp. fresh thyme, crumbled, or 1 tsp. dried thyme
Directions

1Saute onion in olive oil until golden.

2Add garlic; cook for 2 minutes.

3Stir in red wine vinegar; reduce by half.

4Add wine and beef broth; simmer for 5 minutes.

5Cool marinade and pour over flank steak placed in a glass or ceramic dish.

6Marinate in the refrigerator for 48 hours, turning steak every 12 hours.

7Grill flank steak and baste using marinade.

8Strain remaining marinade. Warm and serve as sauce.
