Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French or Italian bread
  • 1 1/3 c. Gruyere cheese, grated
  • 1 1/3 c. Swiss cheese, grated
  • 1 1/3 c. white wine
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 piece garlic, peeled
  • 1 shot glass Kirsch
  • pepper to taste
  • dusting of paprika and nutmeg

Directions

    Cut the bread into small cubes, making sure that most pieces have some crust.

    Grate the cheeses.

    Mix wine with cornstarch and stir into cheeses. Bring mixture over low heat to a boil.

    Add garlic, Kirsch, pepper, paprika and nutmeg.
