  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 4 or 5 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. water
  • 1 egg

Directions

    Sift flour, sugar and salt together.

    Melt shortening in 1 cup warm water.

    Mix all together.

    Add egg, beaten slightly.

    Let rise in warm place until double in bulk.

    Knead; make into rolls. Let rise and bake in hot (450°) oven.

    Uncooked dough can be stored in the refrigerator for several days.
