French Black Bottom Pie

  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 (4 oz.) pkg. French vanilla pudding
  • 1 medium bowl Cool Whip
  • 1 baked 9-inch pie crust

Directions

    In small mixing bowl, cream the butter. Gradually add sugar, creaming until light.

    Add chocolate and vanilla.

    Beat in egg. Continue beating for 3 minutes at medium speed. Spoon into crust. Prepare mix according to package directions except in place of 2 cups milk, use 1 1/2 cups.

    Let stand until thick.

    Pour over mixture. Chill until firm. Top with Cool Whip.
