French Onion Soup

Ingredients

  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 3/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 lb. onions, sliced
  • 2 cans beef broth
  • 4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/8 tsp. curry powder
  • 6 slices French bread (thick)
  • 6 Tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1 1/3 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 c. Mozzarella cheese

Directions

    Butter each slice of bread; sprinkle with garlic and bake until brown.

    Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.

    Set aside. Separate onions into rings.

    Saute in butter in Dutch oven over medium heat for 25 to 30 minutes.

    Add broth and remaining ingredients, except Mozzarella cheese.

    Cover.

    Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.

    Serve with toasted bread on top of soup with Mozzarella cheese on top and microwave until cheese melts.
