  • 1/3 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 c. sifted flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

    Combine shortening, 1/2 cup sugar and egg in bowl, mixing well.

    Sift next 4 ingredients together.

    Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition.

    Fill greased muffin cups 2/3 full.

    Bake at 350° for 20 to 25 minutes. Dip immediately in melted butter and then in mixture of 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon.
