- 2 2/3 packages yeast
- 1/3 cup warm water
- 1 quart milk, scalded
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 6 teaspoons salt
- 7-9 cups flour
- shortening for frying
Directions

1Add yeast to warm water to dissolve.

2Combine milk, sugar, shortening and salt; add yeast.

3Gradually add flour until a round ball forms.

4May be beaten in mixer with dough hook attachment. Cover with cloth and let dough rise until double.

5Drop from tablespoon into melted shortening and fry like doughnuts until golden brown.

6Serve with preserves, apple butter, honey, or syrup. Yields 7 dozen biscuits.
