- 2 2/3 c. sifted flour
- 1 2/3 c. whole wheat flour
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 1/4 c. water
- oil for deep frying
Directions

1Combine flour, whole wheat flour and salt in bowl.

2Mix in shortening with fingers.

3Stir in water with fork until mixture forms dough.

4Shape into ball.

5Let rest for 30 minutes. Knead on floured surface for 5 minutes or until smooth.

6Roll 1/8-inch thick and cut in 3-inch circles.

7Deep fry a few at a time in 365° oil for 30 seconds or until puffed.

8Turn and fry 1 minute longer. Drain on paper towel.

9Yields 4 dozen.
