- 5 slice thick bacon
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1 medium onion (minced)
- 1 large head cabbage
- 1/3 cup water
Directions

1fry the bacon until crisp.

2I usually use a cast iron Dutch oven.

3should be about an inch of bacon drippings in the pan.

4cut up cabbage and discard the core of the cabbage.

5the oil should be on Med.

6stir the cabbage to coat the cabbage.

7wilt lettuce to about 1/2 its volume.

8add the onion, salt, and pepper.

9stir to mix.

10add the water and turn down to Med low... cover..

11stir every 10 minutes.

12let cook for 20-30 minutes, until cabbage is tender.
