- 4 large green tomatoes
- 2 c. plain corn meal
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening or cooking oil
- black pepper to taste
Directions

1Wash tomatoes and pat dry.

2Cut tomatoes in 1/4-inch slices. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

3Dip each slice in corn meal and lay aside on waxed paper.

4Heat oil.

5Fry tomato slices until golden brown.

6Drain on paper towels.

7Serve hot.
