  • 4 medium green tomatoes
  • 1/2 c. cornmeal
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. sugar
  • vegetable oil

    Slice tomatoes into 1/4-inch thick slices.

    Dredge slices in cornmeal.

    Fry tomatoes in hot oil in a skillet until browned; turning once.

    Drain well on paper towels.
