- 3 to 4 large firm green tomatoes
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/4 c. flour
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. cornmeal
- shortening or oil
Directions

1Slice tomatoes about 1/8 to 1/4-inch thick.

2Beat egg and milk in bowl; combine flour and cornmeal.

3Dip each slice individually in milk and egg mixture and then in flour and meal mixture.

4Have shortening about 1/2-inch deep in heavy skillet.

5When shortening is hot, place tomatoes in and fry until brown on both sides.

6Salt and pepper to taste.
