- 1 1/2 lb. fresh young okra
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 c. yellow corn meal
- 1 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
- about 3 Tbsp. bacon drippings or shortening
Directions

1Wash okra and cut off tips and stem ends.

2Cut pods into crosswise slices 1/4-inch thick.

3Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Roll in corn meal mixed with flour.

4Saute in hot bacon drippings until okra is golden brown.

5Serve hot.
