- 2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 2/3 c. milk
- dash of salt
Directions

1Stir together ingredients.

2When mixture is a firm ball of dough, put on floured board and knead down several times.

3Use floured rolling pin, pinch off pieces and roll to 1/8-inch thickness.

4Cut circles with a saucer.

5Place 2 tablespoons of cooked dried apples, or other fruits on half of circle.

6Season well with sugar and nutmeg.

7Fold half of dough and press edges together with a fork, dipped in ice water.

8The pies may be finished by deep frying, pan frying or brush with butter and baked in oven.

9Old time favorites are apples, apricots or any fresh fruit for filling.

10Try them some Sunday evening.
