Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1 1/2 c. water
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 1/2 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. soda

Directions

    Cook raisins in water until raisins are done.

    Cream sugar and shortening.

    Add eggs, then dry ingredients.

    Pour juice from raisins, if not 1 cup add enough water to fill cup.

    Add soda to water and add.

    Mix raisins.

    Bake in shallow pan.

    May be frosted with powdered sugar icing while warm.

    Bake at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes.
