- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 2 egg whites, beaten
- 1 c. chopped nuts
Directions

1Sift flour, salt and baking powder together; put aside.

2Cream shortening with sugar until fluffy.

3Add eggs, vanilla and sifted ingredients; mix well.

4Spread batter very thin on baking sheet. Fold brown sugar into egg whites.

5Mix until soft peaks form. Spread over batter and sprinkle with nuts.

6Bake at 325° for 25 minutes.

7Cut into squares.
