Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 c. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 Tbsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves
  • 1 c. raisins and currants, boiled in 2 c. water 15 minutes
  • 2 lb. candied fruit
  • 1 c. walnuts
  • 1 c. orange juice
  • 1 c. rum
  • 2 eggs
  • dash of salt

Directions

    Place all ingredients in order in a large bowl.

    Be sure to include any water left in the raisins and currants after boiling. Mix with a medium beater until well mixed.

    Bake at 350° in a greased ring pan or 2 to 3 loaf pans.
